Puffins

During our sea kayaking trip to Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, we were able to take a trip to a Puffin nesting colony on Macias Seal Island.  About 30 persons per day are allowed on the island, in the weather allows landing.  We were fortunate and the weather was good, so we were allowed to land are could spend up to one hour in a blind, perhaps 3 feet from some of the birds, and what wonderful birds they are!

Here is the disputed Machias Seal Island with the Canadian Light house station.
This is a load of Puffin watchers approaching the island.
This is one of the blinds, with Puffins flying about
Here is what it looks like peering out a window of the blind.
On the other side the rocks upon which the bird sat were closer.
They seemed as curious as we were.
There were also a bunch of razor bills on the island.
They appeared to get along well.
The puffins were amazing to watch flying.
Its been a great visit.
