CONDOLENCES — Senior member George Hurley passed away on September 20th in Fairfax, Virginia at the age of 82. He was active in the club beginning in the early 50's and was past president of both the Handlan Chapter and the parent club. He was also past editor of The Redstart. Many current members may not be directly aware of his contributions, but long-timers can certainly attest to these. John Smith will provide a new issue of The Swainson's Warbler journal that includes more detail on the accomplish ments of George Hurley. A planter was delivered to the memorial service on behalf of'our chapter in recognition of his dedication to the life of the club.

McClintic to find early waterfowl migrants, various sparrows, etc.; meet at the
Bob Evans, Winfield exit of 1-64 at 7:30AM.......................

STUDY GROUP — Monday, October 2nd, 7:OOPM, Russ Young's residence. John Smith will lead another "fireside chat" — an evening of informal discussion, this time focusing on waterfowl migration in the Kanawha Valley.' Should be an excellent primer for outings in October and November. At the suggestion of Martha Shearer, tape recordings of studies will be made.
COONSKIN RALLY — Monday, October 9th, 1:OOPM, German Shelter Area. The purpose will be to inform the general public of plans to expand the main runway at Yeager Airport and the probable effects this would have on the park. For more information, call 925-6124.
PARENT CLUB — The annual meeting/fall outing will be held
October 27th-29th at North Bend State Park featuring field trips, programs and
business meetings. The deadline for reservations is October
10th.................
The Eastern Shore trip will be
held November 8th-12th on the Delmarva Peninsula. Deadline for reservations is
October 25th.
