Master Naturalist Field Trip on July 21th, 2007 to Kanawha State Forest

Bill Roody gave a short course on mushrooms, and then led us on a field trip to Kanawha State Forest to see what we could find.

First we saw what some parasitic mushroom such as the Honey Mushroom can do to trees.  Note the black cord-like rhizomorph left on the stump.
Also on other side of this same stump was an Oyster Mushroom.
We found quite a collection of mushrooms

Chanterelle

Slime Mushroom observed under a magnifying glass

Waxy Cap Mushroom

Crown Coral Mushroom

#16 (or was it #18?)
